Movie Theaters

Several Triangle area movie theaters are showing audio described and captioned first-run movies.  See our Movie Theater Accessibility page for more information about movie theater accessibility efforts.

  • Raleigh Regal Stadium 14 (North Hills Mall):  Raleigh Movie Schedule (scroll down to Raleigh)
  • Apex Regal Beaver Creek Stadium 12 (1441 Beaver Creek Commons Dr):   Apex Movie Schedule (scroll down to Apex)
  • Garner Regal White Oak Stadium 14 (1205 Timber Dr E):  Garner Movie Schedule (scroll down to Garner)

Note:  Please check the website or call the theater to confirm what services are available, Captionfish is also a good site to check to confirm what is available, link below.

Once you find your described movie from the list and you arrive at the movie theater, just tell the box office attendant you are there for the described video of that show. They should provide you with a headset and receiver. It's a good idea to bring your own spare pair of AA batteries to ensure your receiver has enough power to make it through the movie!

Captionfish now offers a FREE iPhone application which will search for audio described (and/or captioned) first run movies near you.  It also offers (captioned but not described) previews of those movies.  Search for Captionfish in the Apps Store.

With many thanks to the sustained advocacy and legal work done by John Waldo of Washington CAP, many, many more movie theaters in the USA are now providing captioned movies.  Captionfish.com is beginning to show more captioned movies now which use the CaptiView closed captioning technology.  If you benefit from captioning, be sure to check http://www.captionfish.com before making plans to see a movie!  (You might also want to check the movie theater's own web site to doublecheck whether a movie is available with captions or subtitles.)
