Training: Arts Access Audio Description Workshop 2026
Learn how to become an audio describer for art, dance, theater, film and more during our winter 2026 session. During this three-day, virtual training you will:
- Gain basic knowledge on what audio description is, the tools and equipment required, and other essentials.
- Draft and create scripts
- Practice and perform live audio description
- Get critiques from members of the blind/low vision community
- Receive resources
Important things to note:
Number of sessions: This workshop covers is a three-day series, with classes on Nov. 7-8 & Nov. 14, 2026.
Schedule: Nov. 7 Session – 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Nov. 8 Session – 12:30 to 4:40 p.m. and Nov. 14 Session – 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Virtual: This workshop series will be taught online via Zoom. You will receive a link after purchase as well as a Google calendar invite. The same link with be used for all three sessions.
Accessibility: Captions are available via Zoom. There will also be several breaks for each session. Attendees also have the choice to turn their video on/or off as needed. Cost: $150 for North Carolina residents, and $300 for non-NC residents. Financial assistance is available. This training is offered at a lower cost than other audio-description training sessions because of support from 100 Women Who Give a Hoot of Wake County and the North Carolina Arts Council.
